The highlight of the past year was definitely getting back into the newly renovated Family Ties building. We’re all home again! The members are so happy to be back and I know the staff is too. Everyone did such an amazing job keeping the programs running in
the meantime, but it wasn’t the same as being together under one roof. The Grand Opening was a huge success and very well
attended by our members and partners alike. The building project was such an achievement and now we have an efficient and welcoming environment which meets the needs of our community.
On a sad note, I would like to say a few words about Terry Maloney who passed away in December. Terry had been a valued member
of the Family Ties Administrative Council for 28 years. I truly appreciated the logic and consideration that he brought to our meetings. He helped us to recognize that there was always more than one way to look at things and he brought balance to our discussions. I will miss him as a board member and as a friend.
I would like to offer thanks to the staff for all their hard work in the delivery of high quality programming and to the director for her wonderful leadership. Thanks also to all of those who volunteer for the organization and to our members for your ongoing support.
On behalf of the board of directors, I hope you enjoy reading this report of activities as we reflect on the past year, our achievements and challenges. With input from the community, we have created a new 3-year Action Plan which will enable Family Ties to continue to evolve and innovate as we look to the future.
